On April 10, 1953, at the age of 38, Lamar became a Naturalized citizen of the United States. Ecstasy and Me, which Hedy Lamarr claimed to be her autobiography, was released in 1966. It was not written by her, but she claimed on television, that she wrote it, and a lot of the content was made up. Later on, Lamarr filed a lawsuit against the publisher, saying that many details were fabricated by its ghostwriter, who is Leo Guild. Gene Ringgold later sued Lamarr, claiming that, the book contained passages that were lifted verbatim from an essay he had written for Screen Facts magazine in 1965. The Villa LaMarr ski resort in Aspen, Colorado, was developed and designed by Lamarr and her then-husband, known as W. Howard Lee in the late 1950s.
